The Eurasian Research Institute invites you to participate in the Economy, Finance and Energy Studies Seminar titled “Central Asian Countries Contribution of Afghanistan’s Energy Security” by Dr. Farkhod Aminjonov Deputy Director of Central Asia Institute for Strategic Studies on May 25, 2017. Afghanistan has made great strides in improving electricity access for its people since 2001. However, it is still a long way from achieving energy security as it suffers from inconsistent energy supply and lack of development of indigenous sources of power. In the seminar, the extent to which the energy-rich Central Asian countries can contribute towards enhancing energy security in Afghanistan will be explored. Taking up this question, the presenter focuses on three aspects of Afghanistan’s energy security priorities where Central Asian countries can play a role: (a) a source for stable electricity supply, (b) Afghanistan’s transformation into an energy self-sufficient country, and (c) Afghanistan’s development as a transit hub between Central and South Asia.
