The Eurasian Research Institute invites you to participate in the Politics, International Relations and Security Studies Seminar titled “Civilian Firearms in Kazakhstan: Legal Framework and Challenges” by Dauren Aben, Senior Research Fellow of the Eurasian Research Institute, on June 8, 2017.
Kazakhstan has a comprehensive set of measures in place to regulate civilian acquisition and possession of small arms. Yet several incidents of armed violence of extremist and terrorist nature that took place in the recent years suggest that the country is not immune to the misuse of firearms.
During the seminar, the presenter will review levels of domestic small arms availability, analyze the impact of firearms on crime and security, and discuss government initiatives to address small arms issues.
