SMEs are the main building blocks of national economies with their social and economic contributions. With the increasing importance of SMEs in liberal economies, it is aimed to increase the number of new entrepreneurs and to develop a business environment to support existing enterprises. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the business environment of fi ve countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan), to make suggestions for improving the business environment and to propose a support model that can be formed to improve trade between the fi ve countries. In this month; DIRECTOR OF THE UNESCO CLUSTER OFFICE IN ALMATY AND UNESCO REPRESENTATIVE TO KAZAKHSTAN, KYRGYZSTAN AND TAJIKISTAN, KRISTA PIKKAT. I joined UNESCO through the Young Professionals Programme in 1997 and have worked for the organization since. I started at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and for 15 years worked in different services from programme, external relations and strategic planning to the Office of the Director-General.
